Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, recently asked his Twitter followers whether or not he should sell 10% of his stocks shares in the company.

Tesla became the first car company in the market to be worth more than $1 trillion in the past year. This may be a good opportunity for investors with potentially high returns, as the company has shown previously.

Musk Has $3.6 billion in Shares

Tesla shares are now around $363.54, meaning Musk's shares in the company are worth something in the ballpark of $3.6 billion. When you compare that to his net worth outside of Tesla it seems like nothing. He is currently estimated to be worth over $20 billion (via Bloomberg).

Musk ran a poll on Twitter that gave people the chance to vote for their decision. He tweeted: "Much is made lately of unrealized gains being a means of tax avoidance, so I propose selling 10% of my Tesla stock. Do you support this?"

The results showed that 57.9% voted yes- he should sell 10% of his Tesla stock. In total, around 3.5 million followers voted.
