Tendermint, unlike other blockchain consensus systems, provides immediate and provably secure mobile-client payment verification. The Cosmos network provides maximum freedom and the opportunity for permissionless experimentation by facilitating interoperability among different governance zones. 

On this basis, the Cosmos crypto Hub runs several distinct blockchains known as "zones". A steady stream of recent block commits from zones placed on the Hub helps it maintain track of each zone's current condition. Similarly, each zone monitors the Hub's status. Packets of data are then transmitted from one zone to another by publishing Merkle-proofs as proof that the data was delivered and received. This technology is commonly known as inter-blockchain communication, or IBC for short.  

Since the Cosmos crypto Hub serves as the primary ledger for the entire system, its security is critical. While each zone can be secured by as few as four Tendermint blockchains, the Hub must be secured by a globally decentralised set of validators capable of withstanding the most severe attack scenarios.

## Zones 

A Cosmos zone is a self-contained blockchain that uses IBC messages to connect with the Hub. According to the Hub, a zone is a multi-asset dynamic-membership multi-signature account that may send and receive tokens using IBC packets. A zone, like a cryptocurrency account, cannot send more tokens than it has, but it can accept tokens from those who do. A zone can be designated as a "source" of one or more token types, allowing it to raise the supply of those tokens. 

Validators of a zone connected to the Cosmos Hub may stake atoms of the Cosmos Hub. While double-spend assaults on these zones would result in the cutting of atoms with Tendermint's fork accountability, a zone with more than 2/3 Byzantine voting power can commit an incorrect state.

Because the Cosmos Hub does not validate or execute transactions committed on other zones, users must deliver tokens to zones they trust.
In the future, the Cosmos Hub's governance system may approve Hub upgrade requests that consider zone failures.

## MoonPay launches NFT Platform with Fox, Universal Pictures. 

MoonPay is partnering with Fox Corporation, Universal Pictures, and Death Row Records (from Rapper Snoop Dogg) in addition to other brands to launch HyperMint, a new NFT platform. 

This partnership was announced by Ivan-Soto-Wright, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) as part of this week’s (June 20 to 24) NFT.NYC conference at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Mining Farm: A Good Crypto Option? 

South Korea crypto tax, which was meant to become effective for the 2022 fiscal year, but was [delayed to 2023](https://cointelegraph.com/news/why-nft-adoption-is-so-high-in-south-korea), has again been halted, this time by the president himself. 

South Korea’s newly elected president Yoon Suk-yeol said he would back up the decision on deferring taxation on digital investment gains until the government enacts a new set of regulations called the Digital Asset Basic Act (DABA). 

DABA was created by the Financial Services Commission (FSC) earlier this year and consists of numerous legislations introduced for consumer protection.

DABA applies to the token distribution, nonfungible tokens (NFTs), centralised exchange (CEX) listings, and international finance as a whole. It also acts as a response to U.S. President Joe Biden’s executive order on digital assets.

## Postponed Until 2025

Be it as it may, a 20% tax on cryptocurrency profit, previously scheduled for January 1, 2023, is now postponed to 2025. 

An FSC representative commented that “taxation of investment income from virtual assets should be done after investor protections are in place.”

The thing is, for now, crypto taxation in South Korea seems to be stuck into a so-called grey legislation area: since cryptocurrencies aren’t considered currency or financial assets. For now, cryptocurrency transactions are tax-free.

Circle launches Euro Coin

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, was sued for $258 billion by a [Dogecoin](/coins/doge) investor on Thursday, alleging him of operating a pyramid scheme to support the cryptocurrency.
 
Plaintiff Keith Johnson filed a case in federal court in Manhattan accusing Musk, electric vehicle firm Tesla Inc, and space tourism company SpaceX of racketeering for promoting Dogecoin and pushing up its price, only to see it plummet.

"Defendants were aware since 2019 that Dogecoin had no value yet promoted Dogecoin to profit from its trading," 

"Musk used his pedestal as World's Richest man to operate and manipulate the Dogecoin Pyramid Scheme for profit, exposure and amusement."
 
According to the complaint, Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, and others have [questioned the worth of Bitcoin](https://news.sky.com/story/elon-musk-sued-for-258bn-over-claims-he-ran-a-pyramid-scheme-to-promote-dogecoin-12635334). Tesla, SpaceX, and Musk's lawyer did not immediately respond to the request for comment.

Johnson's lawyer did not reply to requests for comment on what proof his client has or expects to have that indicates the dog focused meme coins worthless, and the defendants conducted a pyramid scheme.

Johnson is claiming $86 billion in damages, which he claims represents the fall in Dogecoin's market value since May 2021 and wants it tripled. He also demanded Elon Musk and his firms be barred from marketing Dogecoin, and a judge to decide that trading Dogecoin is illegal under federal and New York law.

According to the lawsuit, the selloff of Dogecoin began around the time Musk presented the NBC show ‘Saturday Night Live’ and, playing a fictitious financial expert on a ‘Weekend Update’ segment, called cryptocurrency "a hustle." Tesla said in February 2021 that it had purchased $1.5 billion in bitcoin and had temporarily accepted it as payment for vehicles.

Dogecoin was trading at around 5.8 cents on Thursday, down from its top of almost 74 cents in May 2021.
