According to the GutterMelo site, many buyers booked their mint immediately after the launch, and the site became over-allocated. Therefore, only the early buyers were able to mint the tokens.  

Initially, the LaMelo shoe price was set at $175 for early buyers. Wait-list buyers had to pay $195 for a GutterMelo NFT. The price for the public sale of these NFTs was $215.

Here are the terms, conditions, and reward system of this NFT collection:
 
- The coffeehouse brand allowed members to purchase up to two NFTs each. 
- Each NFT came with 1,500 bonus points that will expire on 31 December. 
- Only Odyssey members can redeem these bonus points. 
- The sale or transfer of a purchased Starbucks NFT will lead to the deduction of points from your annual membership points tally. 

It has been well over a year since NFT sales peaked (marketwide), but this has not deterred Starbucks in its quest to venture into the [Web3 space](/news/article/women-in-tech). The Siren Collection potentially represents the first of many NFT collections the brand may launch.

Starbucks NFT: Enjoy immersive coffee experiences 

George Floyd NFTs, aka Floydies NFTs, is an NFT collection launched on [OpenSea](/news/article/guide-to-minting-nfts-opensea) in December 2021. 

The NFT collection is based on George Floyd, a black man killed by Derek Chauvin, an American police officer, in May 2020 in Minneapolis. 

The police officer murdered [George Floyd](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Floyd) by kneeling on his throat for over nine minutes. He was sentenced to 22.5 years in prison for his crime. The incident led to large-scale racial justice protests in the country, eventually birthing the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement. 

BLM spread like wildfire across the country and beyond its shores - the movement is a testament to our unified stance against racism. The campaign is alive even today - Premier League teams, for example, 'take a knee' before the kick-off of matches in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. 

Unfortunately, on 7 December 2021, a group of quick-money-seeking anonymous creators launched the first collection of Floydies NFTs on OpenSea, one week after the police officer who murdered George Floyd pleaded not guilty. 

[The NFT collection](/news/category/nft-news), according to its anon creators, was meant to serve as a forward-thinking and distinctive way to honour George Floyd's life. It served no such purpose - the NFTs sparked outrage along the lines of being racist and tasteless. OpenSea was forced to remove the collection shortly after.

## George Floyd NFT collection history 

The NFT collection's OpenSea bio described them as a "unique and progressive way" to celebrate George Floyd. It added, "Owning a Floydie is a great way to express yourself and your beliefs!" 

The first George Floyd NFT collection comprised 11 NFTs and was launched on 7 December 2021. Each NFT is a digital cartoon depiction of George Floyd with a unique background and set of clothing. This includes depictions of George Floyd as an astronaut, Joker (the Batman universe character), a BLM protestor, and much more. 

The @FloydiesNFT X page (now dysfunctional) announced the collection launch and was greeted with more than 3,000 likes, 4,100 retweets, and plenty of backlash within three weeks. The first NFT collection was not commercially successful, with the highest-selling NFT going for 0.05 ETH. 

Mind you, this was the first collection that was launched. Many Floydies NFTs arrived later and the highest-selling NFT went for a whopping 3 ETH (roughly $12,000 at the time). 

A Floydies NFT making reference to the Sneed's Feed and Seed meme was added to the original collection on 12 December (below). By 27 December, a bidder had posted a bid of 3 ETH, and the auction was closed on 28 December.

Other NFTs added to the original Floydies collection include George Floyd dressed as a minion, a police officer (how tasteless is that?), Goku from Dragon Ball Z, Big Chungus, and much more. Talking about being distasteful, an autistic version of the man was included as well. 

In all, 22 items were launched as part of the collection, and the anon creators of Floydies NFTs raked in nearly $5,000 in profit. Was the profit worth playing with the feelings of people? No. 

## George Floyd NFT Collection: Among the worst in history 

[The NFT sphere](/news/article/the-merge-nft) has seen several bad projects, including Jungle Freaks and Little Baby Apes. Floydies NFTs are, without a shadow of a doubt, the worst collection in history. 

The George Floyd NFT set seemed to have been designed to outrage people, with the depicted imagery labelled as "troublesome" by Chris Stokel-Walker of Input Magazine. 

The Minions Floydie is a great example - what were the creators thinking? I understand freedom of speech and expression, but this is certainly crossing the line. The NFTs are disgustingly racist, and I am disappointed that they were not taken down sooner by OpenSea. 

All the collection does is mock George Floyd's death and the BLM movement. And, of course, it filled the pockets of its creators with a whole $5,000. 

The collection serves as a reminder that humanity is greedy and will try to monetise any opportunity. May George Floyd rest in peace.

Unfortunately, the hype was short-lived. Nearly two years after announcing the ideation of CryptoZoo, Logan Paul has failed to deliver the game, despite supposedly investing a million dollars into making the game and hiring credible game developers, project managers, marketers, and artists. 

Investors are down by thousands and Logan Paul faces a lawsuit alleging fraud, breach of contract, and negligence. CryptoZoo is not the only instance of Logan Paul's failed dealings in the crypto space – Dink Doink and Liquid Marketplace are two failed projects he was strongly associated with. 

## The rise and fall of CryptoZoo (ZOO) 

CryptoZoo draws inspiration from Pokemon. If you combine the popularity of Pokemon as a brand, the billions Niantic has earned from Pokémon Go, the 2021 NFT boom, and the marketing pull of Logan Paul as an influencer, it is no surprise that investors looking for quick money bought into the idea.

Logan Paul bought more than 100 NFTs worth over $2M in 2021 and created CryptoZoo in August of that year. 

The project's NFT collection was launched on 3 September, with 10,000 "Base Eggs" selling out within minutes! After scaling to 7th place in terms of total volume on OpenSea a few days later, the NFT collection failed to gather further momentum. The project's total sales volume is 2,930 ETH (over $5M currently), with a 2.5% creator fee. 

At the time of writing, [just 2,927 such NFTs exist, owned by 1,293 holders](https://www.nft-stats.com/collection/cryptozoo-co). The most expensive sale was $203.21 (Base Egg 119), with zero sales in the past week and very few sales in the past weeks and months. 

While statistics of the NFT collection look bad, the project’s native token, $ZOO, is where investors lost the most.

$ZOO reached an all-time high of nearly $0.0005 on 26 August 2021 and fell spectacularly to just over $0.0000002 on 29 September 2021. This represents a HUGE loss for thousands of investors! Speaking to [TIME](https://time.com/), young Rueben Tauk invested over $100,000 in $ZOO in late 2021. 

His investment is nearly zero at the time of writing. Currently, $ZOO is trading at a paltry ~$0.0000008. It is not hard to believe that Logan Paul faces a lawsuit requesting class-action status from buyers into the project. 

## CryptoZoo Logan Paul: lawsuit details 

In February 2023, a lawsuit was filed against Logan Paul in an effort to bring justice to thousands of CryptoZoo investors is being spearheaded by attorney Tom Kherkher. 

The lawsuit reads that Logan Paul and Co. "made the business decision to forgo an expensive and time-consuming process to create a functional CryptoZoo game or support it, and instead deliberately undertook a scheme to defraud Plaintiff and other consumers". 

If the class-action status is granted, thousands of investors who are victims will be eligible to join. Donald Trump NFTs created a buzz at the intersection of politics and digital collectibles, effectively launching a new political fundraising era. 

Over a year ago, you weren't cool if you didn’t own an NFT. Unfortunately, when the [crypto winter ](https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/investing/crypto-winter)began towards the middle of 2022, only real degens persisted with the 'NFT craze'. 

People just trying out NFTs due to FOMO or simply being fascinated by the concept forgot about non-fungible tokens and rolled back to their various status quo. 

In the same vein, some projects packed their bags. Interestingly, amidst the chaos of the blockchain industry, former US President [Donald Trump launched](https://collecttrumpcards.com/) his brand new non-fungible token (NFT) trading cards on 15 December, 2022. 

Before now, we have seen NFTs find use cases in different industries, but this was the first of its kind in politics. This begs the question of whether the Trump NFTs are the start of a new era of political fundraising or a fad.

## A closer look at the Trump NFTs 

The first batch of the NFTs cost just $99 per unit, and according to a statement by Trump, the NFTs are "amazing artworks from my life and career". 

The special edition cards resemble baseball cards. Some potential perks of owning the card may include spending a "wonderful evening in Miami for a special dinner organized by Trump" or simply meeting with Donald Trump for an hour of golf. 

As expected, the launch of the new NFTs [raised speculation](/news/article/trump-nft-collection-raises-eyebrows), especially based on the circumstances surrounding the digital presence of the 45th American President. What made the NFT project stand out is that it was a political fundraising measure. 

The idea behind the Trump NFTs is to be a means to raise money for the former President’s 2024 re-election bid. So, 45,000 units of the first batch of the NFTs were designed by illustrator Clark Mitchell, and all are issued on the Polygon chain. Users can easily purchase the units they want with a credit card or WETH. 

As the first to announce his candidacy for the 2024 elections, Trump has quickly tapped into leveraging his huge followership through these NFTs. 

According to reports, the first batch [quickly sold out ](https://www.coindesk.com/web3/2022/12/16/trump-nft-collection-sells-out-price-surges/)just a day after the launch. Due to the massive demand for the NFTs, their prices rapidly increased from $99 to about $230, with rarer ones selling for about $24,000. 

These numbers for the NFT launch are impressive, especially because the crypto industry had initially suffered massive setbacks that made some elite NFTs lose about 80% of their value. 

In response to the sell-out of the first series, Donald Trump[ launched a second batch](https://www.analyticsinsight.net/donald-trump-has-launched-a-second-batch-of-nfts/) of his NFTs for the same initial price of $99. The second batch had 47,000 units, featuring limited one-of-one NFTs and autographed cards. 

While the NFT cards launched by Trump did well on primary sales, the secondary market realities continually journey[ far from impressive](https://opensea.io/collection/trump-digital-trading-cards?search[sortAscending]=false), with floor price tapering. While the Trump NFTs aren’t the first to hit the market from a politician, they have made paying attention to the politics-NFT intersection crucial. 

## Potential of NFTs in political fundraising: Facts and questions 

NFTs thrive on attention, buzz, and funding; on closer look, politicians are the same. This is higher than competitors OpenSea and Rarible. It is also not possible to upload NFTs in bulk. You have to upload them one after the other.

Alternatively, you can click the No Thanks option and search for a cryptocurrency wallet that better meets your privacy concerns. We urge you to read the Privacy Policy as well, ensuring your decision to set up a MetaMask wallet is an informed one!

At this stage, you will be asked to create a secure password. You should note that the service provider CANNOT recover this password for you, so scribble it down somewhere or memorise it thoroughly! The password serves as a means to unlock your wallet on that device. 

Create an eight-character password (minimum length) consisting of at least one lowercase and uppercase letter, metacharacters, and numbers. Re-enter your password, tick the I Understand that MetaMask Cannot Recover this Password for Me box, and click the Create a New Wallet option to continue.

At this stage, you will be asked to confirm your Secret Recovery Phrase. You need to fill in the blanks with the Secret Recovery Phrase words in the correct order. Upon confirmation, a message will appear on your screen affirming successful creation.
