In August 2021, Louis Vuitton (LV) launched Louis: The Game. It is an adventure-based mobile game that allows users to follow a character called Vivienne through six different worlds in search of exclusive NFT postcards, among other items.

The game, which aims to educate players on the history of LV, was not only created to pay homage to the fashion house founder but also to tap into the brand's younger audience.

It quickly became a hit,  leading to the brand announcing the addition of two more levels and a new Louis Vuitton NFT collection in 2022. According to the fashion house, it has been downloaded more than two million times worldwide. It is available for download on Android and iOS devices.

The two new levels, Radiant City and High in the Sky, are only accessible to players who've completed the first level. Part of the mission of the newly added levels is to retrieve 16 pages from a manuscript of LV L'Audacieux (written by Caroline Bongrand).

Like in the first level, players will have an opportunity to win ten non-fungible tokens. The new Louis Vuitton NFT offerings feature Vivienne sporting a variety of looks and will be portable across other platforms. Their owners can also use them as avatars on social networks.

The new levels also feature a global leaderboard that encourages competition where players can show off skins that can be changed throughout the game. There are plans for players to win physical experiences at the LV family home in Asnières and Los Angeles.

Louis Vuitton NFTs stand out in that, unlike other companies' NFTs, they are free. They can only be earned by playing the game.

The non-fungible tokens were created by Wenew Labs, founded by Mike Winkelmann, also known as Beeple, and its sister company, Possible. The two companies developed and deployed the smart contract for the second and first rounds of Louis Vuitton NFT giveaways.

Louis: The Game marks the second time Winkelmann has worked with LV. He previously worked with Nicolas Ghesquière to have his "Everydays" designs added to the LV Spring/Summer 2019 apparel.

Winkelmann rose to fame on March 11, 2021, when a collage from his “Everydays” NFT series was sold by British auction house Christie's for $69.3 million, the highest price ever paid for a digital artwork. The sale catapulted him to become the third most expensive living artist in the world.

## LVMH

Louis Vuitton is part of LVMH, the world's largest luxury goods conglomerate that owns 76 brands. Its Chief Executive, Bernard Arnault, in January 2022, garnered attention for his comments about the Metaverse, saying he was cautious of the [Metaverse](/news/article/bloktopia-metaverse-guide) bubble.

Despite Bernard’s skepticism of the Metaverse, the company continues to venture into the crypto space. The owner of #1953 increased his asking price to $2 million after receiving offers in the range of $1.3 million.

Murakami clones came about in October 2021 when [RTFKT](https://twitter.com/RTFKT/status/1454101172265132039?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1454101172265132039%7Ctwgr%5E3d3022ef7bf58e92ab668e68cc3d0c67025c1478%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fnftnow.com%2Fart%2Frtfkt-partners-with-takashi-murakami-clone-x-project%2F) announced, via its verified Twitter account, that it had partnered with Japanese pop art sensation Takashi Murakami for its CloneX avatar project. Murakami raised the project's profile due to his more than 300,000 Twitter followers being exposed to CloneX NFTs. 

While half of the NFTs (about 10,000) are Human DNA subtypes, three-tenths (around 6,000) are Robots, and two-tenths (roughly 4,000) are Undeads, Reptiles, Demons, and Angels. You should note that a tiny fraction of the Human DNA subtype possesses the "vitiligo" trait. This is a disease that causes patches of skin color loss that became synonymous with pop icon Michael Jackson.

Each of the 20,000 clones is also a turnkey. Thus they are ready to be used with the global fashion brand Nike and with RTFKT Studios, which employs the latest Web3 technology to create digital artifacts such as one-of-a-kind sneakers' Metaverse.

The Metaverse is what many analysts in the computer industry believe is the future of the internet as a single, universal, and immersive virtual world facilitated via the use of augmented and virtual reality headsets.

## Is CloneX NFTs' success down to Nike and RTFKT? 

Like other digital collections in the NFT sector, CloneX NFTs would have remained unknown for some time without its direct links to the global reach of Nike since the NFTs are made by RTFKT (pronounced artifact).

[Nike acquired RTFKT Studios](https://nftnow.com/news/nike-acquires-rtfkt-nft-studios/) in December 2021. President and CEO of Nike, Inc., John Donahue, said of the acquisition that Nike planned to invest in the RTFKT brand so that Nike's digital footprint and capabilities could be extended in the NFT sector.

Nike's acquisition of CloneX maker RTFKT impacted sales of the NFT, which soared in December 2021 to reach approximately [$187 million](https://www.cryptoslam.io/clonex/sales/summary?groupingtype=daily&month=2021-12) from the activities of 3,785 unique buyers and 3,025 unique sellers who contributed to 6,482 transactions. 

The average sale value of CloneX NFTs during the last month of 2021 was $28,867. Monthly sales volume for December 2021 remains at its all-time high, and that figure is still higher than the total sales volumes of MekaVerse, NFT Worlds, Adidas Originals, Okay Bears, Invisible Friends, Ethereum Name Service, Cool Pets, Gods Unchained, and World of Women Galaxy, as of 8 December, 2022.

## Nike impact on the NFT sector aside from CloneX NFTs

Nike Inc. filed for a patent for its blockchain-compatible sneakers dubbed [CryptoKicks](https://thenextweb.com/news/nike-blockchain-sneakers-cryptokick-patent) in 2019. The patent was officially issued in December 2019 by USPTO (the United States Patent and Trademark Office).

With this patent, Nike can use the possibilities of blockchain technology through cryptography to tie digital assets to a physical product. Nike took advantage of its partnership with RTFKT by launching RTFKT Nike Dunk Genesis CryptoKicks, a collection of 20,000 NFTs, in April 2022.

As of 8 December, 2022, the collection has generated more than [$19 million](https://www.cryptoslam.io/mnlthrvld/sales/summary) in all-time sales and falls into the top 300 NFT collections by total sales. CryptoKicks and other NFT activities which involve Nike have contributed to Nike Inc. topping a list of NFT brands by total NFT revenue. 

As of 8 December, 2022, Nike NFT revenue was [$185.74 million](https://dune.com/kingjames23/nft-project-possible-data-to-use), seven times more than second place Dolce & Gabbana, which had $23.69 million.
 
Nike took another step into Web3 and the Metaverse by filing three trademarks for its [DOTSWOOSH](https://twitter.com/KondoudisLaw/status/1594657887367925760) in November 2022 with the USPTO. The applications cover virtual, crypto goods marketplaces, virtual footwear, clothing, sports gear, and custom manufacture of real-world versions of digital footwear and apparel, among others.

That said, what makes a DeGods NFT such a prized asset? And why did the NFT collector spend BIG on the project?

## What is DeGods?

DeGods claims to be the "#1 NFT community on Solana". These NFTs are NOT a derivative of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC). Instead, this collection is [works of original art](/news/article/how-to-make-nft-art).

These non-fungible tokens are held by many prominent members in the crypto space, including Anatoly Yakovenko and Raj Gokal (Co-founders of Solana), Ice Cube (an American rapper), and Sidney Zhang (Co-founder and CTO of Magic Eden).

Holders of the non-fungible token earn in $DUST, the native token of the DUST Protocol, based on Solana. Currently, the cheapest DeGods NFT available on the open market is worth 517.78 SOL. The piece of art goes by the name "DeGod 4640".

## Why did Pokeee.eth buy 69 DeGods NFTs?!?

On 13 January, 2023, Pokeee.eth promised to purchase 69 of the digital art tokens if the below post received more than 1,000 likes. The digital art collector's move was in support of the project's impending [move to Ethereum](/news/article/ethereum-whales-fuel-eth-bounce-back). The post has received nearly 3,000 likes, and Pokeee.eth is a man of his word.

•	Define your NFT: You need to give your NFT a name and description. You can add special features such as discount codes or private Discord channel invites. You can also expand your NFT to a collection or limit it to only one.

•	Pick your blockchain: The last step is to select the blockchain to store your NFT. Don't make a mistake here, as you cannot change this after you have minted the NFT.

•	Mint your token: Congratulations! Your digital asset is live. However, it still needs to be put up for sale. To do that, you need to select the sell button and indicate your sell price and how long you want to put it up for sale. Most platforms allow you to list your NFT for free or next to nothing, while others can charge a lot depending on the network fees at the time of listing.

Depending on the platform, it will cost you a small fee to sell an NFT. Some platforms, such as Binance, will take a percentage of the selling price to cover platform fees and other applicable fees. Other platforms like OpenSea, on the other hand, charge a flat price for each sale.

You can also choose to earn each time anyone sells your NFT and can earn up to 10% each time it is subsequently sold.
