On 1 November, the country's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and four other agencies unveiled an ambitious plan to accelerate the development of the VR industry, intending to exceed 350 billion yuan ($48.1 billion) in total industrial scale by 2026.

The plan establishes an overall goal of breakthroughs in core technologies such as three-dimensionality and improving the ecosystem so that VR can be used to promote economic development.

## Companies to broadcast World Cup VR

Chinese streaming platform Migu, a subsidiary of China Mobile, and Douyin, the Chinese TikTok, are two major firms to broadcast the event. The two streaming platforms have sub-licensed rights to broadcast live and on-demand coverage of the Qatar World Cup via VR. They will share digital coverage of the events with China Media Group, a state-owned broadcaster.

According to DappRadar, companies in that field and Metaverse projects have raised approximately $748 million since the beginning of August. This is a 135% increase over July but a 16% decrease from June's figures.

Gabriel Leydon, the founder of Machine Zone, made one of the largest investments of $200 million in Web3 games.
Temasek, a Singaporean investment firm, led the latest $100 million funding round for Animoca Brands to increase the company's exposure in the sector. 

Xterio, a cross-platform publisher and developer of high-quality mobile and web3 games secured a $40 million fundraising round. 

Last year, the gaming space raised around $4 billion. This figure has already been surpassed in 2022, with investments totalling around $7 billion. If current trends continue, the figure is expected to reach $10.2 billion by 2022.

## DappRadar July report

At the end of July this year, the firm determined that blockchain games and Metaverse projects appear to be faring much better than other industry segments during the crypto winter. 

According to the report, unique active wallets (UAWs) decreased by 7% in Q2 compared to the previous quarter. This meant that people were still interacting with blockchain decentralised applications at nearly the same rate as before the [Terra collapse](/news/article/terra-luna-collapse).

Why the sharp decline in Axie Infinity’s value?
The overall bearish trend in the crypto market can be one of the factors for Axie’s decline. However, there are two other primary reasons for its sharp decline.

### 1.   Hype for P2E gaming

As a torchbearer of the play-to-earn games, it has fallen short of this claim. The game isn’t quite competitive in terms of gameplay – especially if you compare it to other MMO battle games. That’s why the player base mainly plays this game with the intention to earn rather than enjoy.
But the game recently introduced its latest version, Axie: Origin, which doesn’t involve the AXS or SLP tokens. Though they have improved the gameplay and graphics of the game, claiming to cater to the non-crypto gamers, the version has failed to attract the masses.
Currently, Axie Infinity has around 18,000 active players. This player count has seen a slump from over 70,000 at the start of the year.

## 2.   Cyberattacks threatening the ecosystem

Cyber Attacks on the ecosystem are the other reason for a decline in the Axie Infinity price predictions. Last month, cyber attackers hacked the discord server and made a fake announcement for the minting of an Axie NFT.

Before that, on 23 March 2022, Axie Infinity blockchain also experienced grave cyber theft. This caused the blockchain to lose over $600 million worth of [USDC](/coins/usdc) and Ether through the Ronin Network.
Because of these hacking attempts, gamers are becoming more sceptical towards Axie Infinity. Investing in such an ecosystem is quite risky; that’s why investors are hesitant to invest their money.

## Is Axie Infinity a good investment?
